SSE Plc choose Vixensoft
for new gas business solution
Scottish & Southern Energy Group Plc (SSE) has selected
Vixensoft to supply an advanced service management solution
with ongoing support for their new domestic gas service,
maintenance and installation business called SSE Home Services
Limited (SHS). Launched in June 2006, the new ‘Shield’
branded product will initially target 3.5 million homes
in the South of England, Scotland and South Wales.
With a dedicated 24 hour call centre, Corgi registered
engineers and sales teams, SHS required a customised and
integrated software solution which would maximise efficiency,
deliver advanced reports and develop good working practices
from the outset. The solution requirements included a call
centre desk top application, a BACSTEL-IP payment processing
facility, resource planning and work scheduling capability,
with an integrated mobile data connection service to the
engineering team.
SHS sought a suitably experienced supplier and Vixensoft
have particular strengths in the building services sector,
with a track record of delivering solutions to a number
of companies within the industry including, Southern Electric
Contracting, Inspace Partnerships and Integral. Vixensoft
was able to offer a flexible solution which was tailored
to meet the broad demands of the new gas servicing business.
Following a consultation and specification period, work
began on the considerable software development required
for Phase One of the project, only 13 weeks in advance of
the proposed company launch date. Despite the limited time
available, Vixensoft and SHS met their Phase One “Go
Live” deadline, allowing for the project management,
installation and training stages to be completed on schedule
for the start up.
Wayne Rogers, Managing Director of Vixensoft said”
We were delighted to be chosen by SSE and we quickly developed
a close working relationship with those responsible for
driving the new gas business forward. Inevitably the specification
continued to evolve as we worked on the software development,
but we successfully maintained the flexibility required
to implement the various changes. Despite the volume of
development work required significant efforts were made
to ensure we met our promised “Go Live” date
and we have been delighted with the response we have had
from our client to date”.
Phase Two development has now begun. SSE’s new business
has so far resulted in the recruitment of over 70 staff
and this is expected to increase significantly as the volume
of customer numbers grows throughout the UK. |
